Alberta holds one of the largest resource bases in the world, along with the engineering, talent, regulatory depth, and geological assets to lead that transition. What has been missing is the infrastructure to connect those assets to the capital and markets that need them.
Theaus Carbon is that mechanism. We design credible carbon pathways tied to real Alberta assets, verify them through independent third parties, and digitize them for transparent, institutional-grade lifecycle tracking. In doing so, we turn the province's resource base into a new class of carbon asset: backed by real resources, verified to a high-integrity standard, and built to move through both carbon and capital markets.

We are Theaus. Our name is inspired by Theia, the ancient goddess of light and mother of the sun.

William Cooper (Bill)
Founder & Executive Chairman
An Albertan from a multi-generational oil and gas family, Bill built his career around the practical mechanics of energy projects: from leases and royalties to engineering, development planning, and regulatory frameworks. He recognized early that the same petroleum-engineering discipline used to quantify resources could underpin a new, high-integrity class of carbon asset.
His work has helped shape multiple complementary pathways for decarbonizing Alberta's oil and gas assets: keeping planned production permanently sequestered in its original geologic formation, converting bitumen into solid non-combustion products, and eliminating methane emissions from inactive wells, including developing Alberta's first approved greenfield Bitumen Beyond Combustion project.
That founding vision is centered on converting rigorously established volumes into independently assured carbon credits with long-term stewardship and transparent tracking, designed to benefit all stakeholders through responsible development and long-term partnership across Alberta and broader Canada.

CEO & Director
Kyle Fry is part of the founding team behind Theaus Carbon, working alongside Bill Cooper on the vision, strategy, and growth of the company from its early stages. Their partnership brings together Bill's deep grounding in Alberta's oil and gas assets and project pathways with Kyle's experience in execution, capital markets, and building businesses for scale.
At Theaus Carbon, Kyle oversees commercialization, strategic partnerships, financing, market development, and overall company execution as the platform advances high-integrity carbon pathways tied to Alberta's oil and gas assets. He brings significant experience leading regulated financial and market infrastructure businesses, including fintech infrastructure and stock exchange, clearing and settlement, and depository infrastructure. Earlier in his career, he spent a decade in technology M&A investment banking at Credit Suisse, advising on complex transactions and developing the institutional discipline that now underpins his work as a CEO and builder. He is also a member of YPO.

At Theaus Carbon, James leads Innovation and Markets, spanning the company's technology architecture, blockchain-enabled lifecycle tracking, and the digital channels that bring verified credits to buyers and capital.
